The Delivery of Work-based Learning to School Students Requirements and Guidelines

The delivery of Work-based Learning to School Students Requirements and Guidelines was endorsed by the Years 9 to 12 Steering Committee in February 2021.

*Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) staff coordinating work placement should still refer to the Workplace Learning Policy and the Workplace Learning Procedure on the DECYP staff intranet that are current but under review. Staff working in Catholic and Independent Schools should refer to their own sector policies and procedures.

Consultation on this and associated documents was undertaken with schools, as well as education, training and industry stakeholders, throughout 2020.

Supporting resources and professional learning to assist with implementation are being developed and will be provided to schools.

The Requirements and Guidelines provides guidance and parameters around the delivery and provision of work-based learning to school students.

Please note that minor updates may be made to this document on an ongoing basis, so please use the link above to ensure you are accessing the most up to date version.

Significant updates will be communicated via regular sector communications.

The Beacon Foundation Intermediary Service for DECYP Schools

The DECYP, in partnership with the Beacon Foundation, is providing an intermediary service to help DECYP schools coordinate work-based learning opportunities for students in Years 9-12. The service will support implementation of the Vocational Learning in Tasmanian Schools Framework and its alignment to ‘Our Approach to School Improvement’.

Determined by school curriculum needs, the Beacon Foundation can source VET placements, internships, and work exposure activities, including work experience.
